John Reischman talks about his solo career and his band, the Jaybirds, through which he has released a combined 11 albums plus a new one on the way soon: The Salish Sea with the Jaybirds, due out Friday, Dec. 5. Reischman is a renowned mandolinist born and raised in California. He emerged on the Bay Area scene while playing with the Tony Rice Unit, and he moved to Vancouver in the early 90s, continuing to perform throughout the Pacific Northwest across more than five decades now. His composition "Salt Spring" has achieved worldwide popularity in folk scenes.
Reischman & The Jaybirds play the Anvil Theatre in New Westminster on Sunday, Dec. 7. The band includes Greg Spatz on fiddle, Nick Hornbuckle on banjo, Patrick Sauber on guitar, and Trisha Gagnon on bass.
