Robin Layne talks about his upcoming show at the Inlet Theatre in Port Moody as a member of the band Locarno, crossing from his education into different folk traditions, and the development of his own projects. Robin is a percussionist whom I know best as a mallet player and in particular a marimbist. Raised in Victoria and based in Vancouver, his travels have brought him from Mexico to Guinea and beyond, as well as to countless folk festivals. He plays mallet percussion in Locarno and on his album Pacifico by Robin Layne & The Rhythm Makers, which he released last year.

Locarno also includes vocalist-bandleader Tom Landa, violinist Kalissa Landa, guitarist Pedro Mota, trumpeter Jocelyn Waugh, trombonist Nick La Riviere, bassist JeanSe LeDoujet, and drummer Liam MacDonald.
