Ruthie Ha talks about developing as a composer and improviser, coming from Richmond through Capilano University into multiple pockets of the community. Ru is a saxophonist whose groups have included PALS, with Noah Franche-Nolan, Harmeet Kaur Virdee, and Karl DeJong; the Ha Siblings with their older brother Paco, playing the music of Alice Coltrane; and Ruined Jackets, a duo with Jack Lee. They have led bands during the 2025 jazzfest, at Jazz at the Bolt, and in many different Infidels Jazz venues.

The Ruthie Ha Big Band plays its debut show at The American for Infidels Jazz on March 1st.
