Swinging Across the Border, with Alyssa Allgood | RCTV 009

The Chicago vocalist's latest EP, Leap, follows 2 Cellar albums and some May 2025 gigs at Frankie's and the VSO School

Alyssa Allgood

Alyssa Allgood talks about her working life in music, the themes of her work, and how we're trying to keep hope and collaborations alive from our vantage points across the Canada-US border in this era. Alyssa is a vocalist and educator in Chicago; she teaches at Loyola University and released her latest EP, Leap, on January 9th. She played two nights at Frankie's Jazz Club in May 2025 with Tilden Webb, Jodi Proznick, and Jesse Cahill and then was featured at Sisters in Jazz presented by the VSO School of Music. Alyssa previously released two albums on Cellar Music (whom I work with): Exactly Like You (2018) and What Tomorrow Brings (2021).

Leap features Victor Garcia on trumpet and flugelhorn, Julius Tucker on piano, Ethan Philion on bass, and Jon Deitemyer on drums.
